HATS – a poem written by Michelle Harman
How many hats does a CMP wear,
when planning a conference or expo with care?
First is logistics, to find a great city,
that welcomes our guests with warm hospitality.
(Pretend to tip your hat and say “Howdy Folks!”)
Next are the speakers and sessions to plan.
The Conference King rules to build the best tracks he can.
(In your best royal voice say “You may speak when I say you can speak”)
Exhibitors all want the best booths on the floor,
while the Expo Queen says (in a sexy voice) “Sure honey, but you’ll have to pay more!”
And when something we count on does not go our way,
Mr. Fix it jumps in to save the day!
(Like a superhero say “No problem folks – I’ve got everything under control”)
Some people will push you to bend rules and more,
but a good law enforcer knows when to show them the door.
(Say strong “Be a good citizen, or you are out of here!”)
And when everyone is stressed & could use a good laugh,
you put on your best smile, sing and dance.
(Put on a big smile and sing “Don’t worry…be happy!”)
Now comes the fun, let the party begin,
the Entertainment Committee draws attendees on in.
(Randomly say stuff like “Party time…woohoo…lets go”)
And everyone knows no event is complete,
without a full bar and great food to eat!
(Say “We have pizza, canoli, stromboli and more! Eat up and enjoy!”)
So let’s give a big hand to our CMP’s,
the CEM’s and the event managment team.
For all your hard work wearing so many hats,
what you do is amazing and that is a fact!
