Trade Show Manager
The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
What is your role at GCSAA?
Urish: Managing the Golf Industry Trade Show.
Something fun about you that most people in the industry probably don’t know?
Urish: Sometimes I rely on old school gangster rap to get me through the day.
Cats or dogs?
How do you use technology to help you through your show cycle?
Urish: With the help of a2z we are now completely paperless and it’s great. We have no paper contracts and we use a2z to store all of our insurance documents so that we don’t have to store any of the paper copies. We send out invoice reminders via email through a2z, which has saved our accounting team time and we’ve saved money on postage and our exhibitors paid faster!
How has the Golf Industry Show event evolved over the last few years?
Urish: Educational opportunities on the trade show floor keep growing due to their popularity, so we continue to strategize on new ways to offer education while still keeping things fresh. The show management team has implemented more interactive areas due to the demand from attendees to be able to demo/test equipment and products. The number of exhibitors hosting happy hours in their booths has continually increased, which is great.
What is the coolest thing you have seen at any show?
Urish: At our own Golf Industry Show we built a 10,000 sq. ft. USGA spec golf green with live irrigation and a small stream with a bridge that attendees had to cross. We incorporated a lot of natural design and we really did re-create a golf green inside the convention center on the trade show floor. It was a lot of hard work, but was a hit with our attendees who do love golf.
